080 Planting tulips

written by Kate on in all garden year02

I take advantage of a gap in the rainy weather to plant some tulips around the terrace in the garden and to rescue the strawberries. I also try to treat the fungus gnats and aphids on our indoor plants with neem oil.

077 Ready for strawberries

written by Kate on in all home garden year02

I went to the garden to start the beds. Naturally, I got distracted. I usually only have a vague idea what I want to do when I head to the garden. Most times, I get distracted even from that vague idea. This time, I got distracted from my distraction, as well. Well, now I am ready for strawberries.

076 Starting seeds for the garden

written by Kate on in all garden year02

If I want a garden this year, it’s time to make a plan and start some seeds. So, after checking on the garden and going for a walk, I went to work and finally got my pepper seeds, chili seeds, and tomato seeds started.

075 Planting spring flowers

Spring is coming. Now that I’ve survived the exams, I get to focus on all the things I need/want to get done: planting some spring flowers on the balcony, building a new shelf for the kitchen to get more storage, and clean up this mess left by flu and exam stress.

073 The first day in the garden

I finally got to work in the garden! Instead of a quick look, Pepper and I have a good look at everything, and then get to work. I clean up the garden house, take down a tree, and somehow make the trash piles even bigger.

072 The garden wakes up

The garden is waking up, so I take a good look around and enjoy some sunshine before heading home to prepare a pork roast in the air fryer. I’ll also explain why I am no longer vegan.

066 Early signs of spring

I am excited to clean up this mess. Seriously, I’m looking forward to carrying trash around. The end of winter is coming closer. I can hardly wait.

The last storm took down a jar I’d forgotten even existed. I spotted it when Pepper and I went to check on the garden after another really bad storm. The jar had been there all through fall and winter. Now, a storm took it down.

056 It might look ugly but…

The storm blew off my garden house roof just the teensiest tiniest bit. I really am impressed how much is still left standing after THAT storm. Um… but we’ve got to fix it.

047 The trash mountains are changing

written by Kate on in all garden year01

Seeing the trash mountains can be overwhelming. It feels like there is always more trash. But load by load, they shrink and change. After a few days of chipping away at them, I missed Thanksgiving in the US, and made a special dinner: stuffing.

046 The trash needs to go

written by Kate on in all garden year01

The trash needs to go. I can’t see it anymore. I don’t care that, technically, someone promised to deal with the trash. It doesn’t seem to be happening on any kind of timeline I can work with, so, I’ve filled the car with the first load of trash, and I’m now going to drive it off and just deal with it myself.
